DIY iPhone case

Well I've been rediscovering my love for embossing these days! Especially with the fun colors and options out there now. I ordered this clear iPhone cover from Amazon. It was very cheap but shipping takes a while so factor that in when ordering.

My original plan was to add paper behind the cover (so it would show through) but that made it so the case wouldn't stay on. So after felling like I had just wasted all this time carefully cutting my paper to fit I was a little annoyed. Then I saw my embossing powder sitting there and though well if I mess the case up it was only like a dollar so why not!
And it worked! I stamped the image with clear embossing ink then embossed it just like you would on paper  (or doilies!)

When you emboss it make sure the cover IS NOT on your phone! And remember it's plastic so heat with care.
So far it's holding up well!

Weekend in photos

This weekend as I was sitting in my craft room reading, using a Forever 21 receipt as a bookmark, I thought "I'm surrounded by paper why use a receipt as a bookmark?" Then this happened
Quick and easy bookmark using paper scraps
 Today we bowled
 Read by the pool
 And wore pretty jewelry...

Hope you had a great weekend!

Oh and one of my super sweet Etsy customers featured our shop on her blog. Go check it out...she has a fun shop too!

Looking forward

Oh washi tape how I love thee! In the beginning of the year I made this planner to house all of my daily to-dos and ideas. The cover was just stained and plain. It was pretty but needed more.
This is where the washi tape came in. It just sticks to the cover perfectly. On top of it I added the 'looking forward' rub-on.
 So easy and simple.
For the inside I made planner pages and tabs to make it complete.
Enjoy your weekend!

background tutorial

Here is the tutorial of how I made the background for my 'Choose' canvas. I'm really loving this technique and it's SO easy. The hardest part is waiting for things to dry! (sorry for the bad lighting)

Getting strappy

So I'm totally LOVING my new camera!!!!! I love that it does so much and I have no clue how to use most of the features. It gives me a challenge and something to learn. Love it! One thing that was bugging me about it though was the strap. It was a little scratchy and the rubber backing stuff pulled my hair. So I decided to make this:

It was super fast to make! And it kills two birds with one stone it adds cuteness and doesn't pull my hair any more...whohoo!

House #1

Since last Thursday I have been pretty much out of commission. I caught a cold that took me out like none I have had before. It was super frustrating because I had SO much I wanted to do this weekend. Not to mention it was the first days of December and I had been looking forward to doing my December daily for like a month. So yesterday I finally started to feel better so I made this:

It's going to be part of a little village I'm making for my living room. I have a whole list decorations I want to make so hopefully this week I will get some time to bust them out :)

One more day

Just one more day until December! I'm super excited to get started on my December daily album. I remember last year loving it. The process that worked best for me was everyday writing down what I had done that day and what stories I wanted to share. After that I printed out my pictures. If had time that night I added them to the book otherwise I had everything ready so I could add them easily the next day.

Back in action!

Finally figured out how to fix my blog thanks to the wonderful help forum and people who know what they're doing :)

Here are some pictures of my coffee filter garland. First I tried spraying some with glimmer mist. They turned out cute but the color was only on the outside. You could still see the white middle. It didn't bother me too much, but for the amount of 'flowers' I was making it would just use up way too much of my beloved glimmer mist. Ok so on to plan B: food coloring. This worked perfectly!

First I filled my pot with warm tap water then added the food coloring. I let them soak for about a minute. Took them out and placed them on my 'holding' area. That way I could get a new batch soaking while I spread the other ones out.

Next I hung them out to dry.

Glued them together and ta-dah! Coffee filter garland. The coffee filters I bought turned out to be pretty big. The flowers are about 10" - 12" in diameter. Not sure where I am going to put them for my party but I knew they were a must. After my party I will post pics.

Hugs!

What I've been up to

On Valentines Day we went to Miguel's in Coronado for the most amazing food I have ever tasted! After that we walked over to the beach to watch the sun set. I packed us chocolates and our favorite game. It was so romantic! I love him :)

This is my new ribbon holder. I bought it at Vignettes. Originally it was a greenish color so I sprayed it black to match my scrap room better.

My banner in the making

A sign I made for my party. I got the wood in my dads treasure pile :)

These are some frames I have been collecting for a collage above my fireplace. They are patiently waiting to be painted glossy white. Once I finish these things I will post pics. Have a wonderful day!

Coffee filters?

So I'm having a little party at my house in a few weeks and I wanted to make the decorations extra cute. I was thinking banners, garland, flowers, candles and tulle. Oh and I almost forgot glitter (it's the most important)! So today when I was doing my usually blog checks I came across this goodness. What perfect timing! So I went to my local store that sells things in crazy portions and bought 1000 coffee filters. I'm thinking that should be enough. Don't you think a little Glimmer Mist would suit these perfectly? I think it would make them so cute and add a little color!

Gotta love 1am blog posts

last night I couldn't sleep. So I figured why not stay up until I'm super tired then go to bed. And what better to do at 1am than update my blog. Here's a little project I've been working on.

Poncho just had to get in my picture (at least he's cute)

Before we got married Jeff used to drive to my house every morning and leave a note on my truck. It was SO sweet! Well I saved all of them and wanted to make something cute to put them in.

crafty things

My dad gave me a bunch of frames he received from a client (I couldn't believe they were just throwing them away). They are all different sizes and finishes. I've been dying to do something fun with them. At Seaside Papery I got some super fun sheets of wrapping paper. It was too pretty to use on just any project. I got the idea to turn one of them into a magnet board for my scrapbook room.

I spray painted the frame black. Got sheet metal from a local metal shop (this was so funny. They were totally freaked out when 2 girls came walking in looking for metal). After I cut the metal to size (with some help from my hubby) I used spray adhesive to glue the paper to the metal. And ta-da a magnet board! So easy and fun because you can make it any size or color you want.

Of course I forgot to take before pictures of the frame. It works perfectly! I'm making more and possibly putting them on my Etsy page (if I can part with them). Once I figure out what I am doing with the other frames I will share them.
Have a great day!
