Challenge complete

As some of you might remember Ann-Marie and I started doing our weekly challenges a few months ago then life got in or way and it's been slightly forgotten. Well I finally got caught up on all the challenges.

My challenge: crate a layout with our using your favorite color.
Result:

This was really a big challenge for me. I started like 3 different layouts but then accidentally used pink so I had to start the challenge again.

Next was Ann-Marie's challenge: Hidden journaling

Challenges are back!

Happy Monday!

My friend Ann-Marie and I are starting our weekly challenges again! I've missed doing them. I t helps keep my creative juices going. Last time was her turn to choose. Her challenge was to create a holiday layout. Here's my layout:

This picture was taken the first Christmas Jeff and I were together. It feels like yesterday and a lifetime away all at the same time!

My challenge for you is to use a new color combo that doesn't include your favorite color. My most fave color in all the land is pink and I would say 99.9% of my layouts include pink somewhere. Not this time! Lets see if I can do it :)

Happy challenges!

p.s. you can play along too! Just leave a comment with a link to your project.

Pause...

Since summer is so super busy Ann-Maire and I have decided to pause our weekly challenges for now. Most likely we will resume in fall. In the mean time we will continue to blog as usual!

Ann-Marie's fabric challenge

Also I forgot to post what the new challenge...use transparencies in a new way. I have tons of them, well to be honest I hoard Hambly transparencies like crazy. I love them and want to use them on just 'the right' project. I need to get over that! So bust out your transparencies and scrap away!!!

Challenge sneak

Today I am giving you just a sneak of my layout from Ann-Marie's most recent challenge. I have the concept and supplies but no photos yet. So once I get the pics I'll share the whole thing.

My challenge to you is to document what you love about summer. Maybe something specific this year or something you enjoy every summer.
This is my way of giving myself a little pep-talk seeing summer is my least favorite season. Don't get me wrong I love to swim and eat watermelon but the heat...no thank you.

getting ready

In honor of our upcoming trip I thought I would scarp a layout of my sister and I in Park City. This weeks challenge was to design your own background paper. First I stamped on white paper with clear embossing ink. Then embossed it with clear embossing powder. Once it was cool I sprayed the whole paper with glimmer mist. Making sure to saturate it very well.

I hope everyone has a great week and I'll post some pictures when we get back!

Happy Thursday!

Today I am feeling very excited and accomplished. Cleaning the house, finally doing some things that have been on my house to do list since we moved in, and I found my fave stamp I have been missing for like two years! Plus my new rain boots arrived via my fave brown truck. Love them! Now it just needs to rain (or snow). Plus tomorrow is FRIDAY...this is the most exciting thing about today! Every year I look forward to spring break but this year, well I have been ready since we got back from Christmas break.

Today is also CHALLENGE DAY! This week it's my turn. So here's the challenge: design your own background paper. Use stamps, paint, rub-ons, whatever you feel like! Can't wait to see how they turn out!

P.S. Its not a good idea to put stamps in a shoe box in a closet. They are easy to loose this way :)

Challenge time

Here is my take on Ann-Maire's challenge. It was to make a love list. These are just a few of the things I'm loving right now. I chose not to do the obvious like my husband and family. I wanted it to be the random things I am obsessing over right now.

Guilty pleasures

There are so many things I could have done this challenge about, staying up late, Starbucks trips, even scrapbooking, however I chose my shopping trips to Target. It's one of my most fave stores and I've been there a lot lately. Especially with their new line, Liberty of London, coming out. Love, love, love!

I used some of the new note cards, I just used my square punch to punch them out. It's kind of what inspired this layout.

Have a great day!!!

Opps!

Yesterday was my day to post a new challenge. Sorry girls...I didn't even turn my computer on yesterday. Ok here it is: scrapbook about a guilty pleasure.

Here's the wikipedia definition of guilty pleasure:
"A guilty pleasure is something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. Often, the "guilt" involved is simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes, rather than actual moral guilt. Fashion, music,[1] and food (especially unhealthier foods high in sugar and/or fat) can be examples of guilty pleasures.[2]"

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Happy March!

March really????

Last weekend was so super stressful. My poor little baby guy, Poncho, had to go to the emergency vet. He was having trouble breathing. Long story short, he stayed the night there on oxygen, has pneumonia, an inflamed heart and it has fluid around it. The fluid is most likely what caused the pneumonia. We go in this week for an ultra sound of his heart to see whats going on in there. The good news is he's home now with full energy.

Ok Gen, Ann-Marie and I are starting our weekly challenges again. It's a great way for us to get our creative juices flowing each week. Every Thursday we will post a challenge on our blog that the other girls will do. Each of us will post our take of the challenge on our own blogs.

I'm a little behind seeing I was going to post Thursday but was at the doggie er. Here's my take on Ann-Marie's challenge: The challenge was to get inspired by a music.

Gens Challenge was to use a non conventional scrap item on your layout. Here's my take:

The polka dot paper behind the photo is actually a tissue. I knew I had been collecting cute tissues for a reason :)
Thursday I post mine so check back girls to see what I have in store.

P.S. If someone other than Gen or Ann-Marie want to play along feel free! Just post a comment with a link to your take below.

Back from CHA!

Oh my goodness what a fun weekend! Saturday Danielle and I drove up to Anaheim for the CHA super show. We shopped around there for a little while then headed up to the 'World's Largest Crop Attempt' put on by Scrapbook Royalty. We had a blast! Of course we didn't get very much done but it was worth lugging our stuff around. They gave away a TON of stuff. I won a pink Slice!!! I was so excited I started jumping up and down then my camera went flying out of my pocket.

Plus each person got an amazing goodie bag. All the proceeds went to the Kids In Need Foundation. If they do it again I would definitely recommend going.

Us and Theresa Collins

The absolute high-light for me was meeting Elizabeth Kartchner! She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. You know when you meet certain people and it's like you've known them all your life? It was like that. She is also even more pretty in person. I was so star struck but I tried to hold myself together. Oh and her new line is AMAZING!!! I can't wait to use it.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

Back in comission...

Phew...what a pain! Last week our computer crashed. Like totally dead trying to talk to me in computer language. We thought everything was gone...pictures, work files, everything! We were freaking out thinking of all the things we lost. Then I got this overwhelming sense of calm and thought you know it was just our computer files, what if it had been our house! So that helped put things into perspective and we moved on. Luckily the wonderful computer guy was able to save ALL our files! So thankful and happy...whooohooo!!!! Hence the absence from blogland. So the moral of the story ALWAYS back your stuff up!

So I will get a picture up within the next couple of days for Gen's challenge. This week it's my turn so here it is: Scrapbook a difficult time in your life. You don't have to have pictures or even share the journaling but get those feelings down. Have fun!

Scrap, scrap, scrapy...

So my challenge from last week was to make a layout using only scraps. Here is the layout I did:

It really helped that I have a TON of scraps to choose from. My plan is to one day make an entire album using just my scraps. When I do I will share! The other layout below is just one I made last week. I love, love, love this new Cosmo Cricket line!

Ok Alessandra...here it is! I made this apron about a month ago. It was the first one I have made and now I'm addicted! The thing that took the longest was getting used to a new machine. Thanks Ale!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Busy bee...

This last week I have been in such a creative mood. I love it! Here are some of the layouts I have finished.

Here is my little wet guy...he is so mad at me right now for giving him a bath!

Oh I almost forgot...this week is my turn to do the challenge. OK girls here it is make a layout using only scraps and 1 piece of cardstock. Have fun!

Cricut love!

Ahhh...one of the best inventions ever was the Cricut! I totally forgot how much I love that thing! With it's endless possibilities and easy to use functions I don't know how I ever scrapbooked without it. So Gen's challenge for us was to use our die cutting machine...so I busted out the Cricut and started cutting. Here is what happened:

I used the Home Accents cartridge to cut out the butterflies. After I cut them out I covered them with glitter. So beautiful I even did my nails! Now I look like a sparkly smurf :) so fun!

Monday already!?!?

I swear I blinked and then it was Monday again! Life is just passing me by way too fast these days. Anyone see the season finally of Grey's Anatomy? It really made me think about how fast things in life can change. So I'm trying to have fun and not take the little things too seriously. I believe we should all try to enjoy life as much as we can and just have fun! Right now my dad and brother are in Alaska. I was really nervous for them to go (especially Connor) but the more I thought about it the more I realized they just need to have fun. I hope they have the best time and really bond.

Sunday we went to my mom's for a celebration. My sister, Renee, and her family got baptized so we had a lunch for them. Jeff and Riley had such a good time. They got into a water fight. Riley just adores him!

Here's Maylee and I...she is getting so big!

Drum roll please...here is a picture of this weeks challenge. It was the first time I ever used my sewing machine to stitch on a layout. Super fun!

It's challenge day!

This weekend just flew by! I hope all of you had a great mother's day! Now I can post the picture from Gen's challenge. It was to do a layout about your mom. I made this for her. It's on a wood block I got at the dollar section in Target. I can't enough of that place!

Last weeks challenge was to use your favorite technique. I choose to do stamping and embossing. After I embossed the image I sprayed it with glimmer mist.

This week it's my turn for the challenge so here it is girls ~ use the sketch below and you must do some sort of stitching on it. Have fun!!!!
